  2. Right to Privacy: Tenants have the right to privacy.  They should not be subjected to unreasonable or intrusive entry by the landlord. The landlord must provide advance notice before entering the rental unit, except in emergencies.
  3. Right to a Written Lease Agreement: Tenants have the right to a written lease agreement. A lease outlines the terms and conditions of the tenancy, including rent amount, due dates, and any rules or restrictions.
  4. Right to Non-Discrimination: Tenants have the right to be free from discrimination. Which is based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or familial status, as protected by fair housing laws.
  5. Right to Repairs: Tenants have the right to request repairs for any damages or maintenance issues that affect their health or safety. The landlord should address these requests in a reasonable timeframe.
  6. Right to Security Deposit Protection: Tenants have the right to have their security deposit held in a separate account and returned within a specified timeframe.  Minus any legitimate deductions for unpaid rent or damages.

Tenant Responsibilities

  1. Paying Rent: Tenants are responsible for paying rent on time as agreed upon in the lease agreement. Failure to pay rent can lead to eviction.
  2. Maintaining Cleanliness: Tenants are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper sanitation in their rental unit. This includes keeping the unit clean and disposing of trash appropriately.
  3. Reporting Maintenance Issues: Tenants should promptly report any maintenance or repair issues to the landlord or property management. Trying to prevent further damage and ensure a safe living environment.
  4. Respecting Property and Neighbors: Tenants should respect the rental property and the rights of other tenants. This includes not causing excessi tove noise, keeping common areas clean, and adhering to any community rules or regulations.
  5. Adhering to Lease Terms: Tenants are responsible for adhering to the terms and conditions outlined in the lease agreement.  Including restrictions on pets, smoking, or alterations to the property.
  6. Giving Notice: When planning to move out, tenants should provide proper notice to the landlord as specified in the lease agreement. This allows the landlord sufficient time to find a new tenant.
